Roof valleys are the internal angles where two sloping roof sections meet. These areas naturally channel large volumes of rainwater down the roof and into the guttering, making them one of the hardest-working parts of the roofing system. Because so much water passes through a valley, it needs to be carefully detailed to remain watertight and durable over time. You’ll commonly find roof valleys on properties with more complex roof shapes, such as extensions, dormers, or L-shaped buildings.
A roof valley lining sits beneath the tiles in the valley area and provides a continuous waterproof channel to safely direct rainwater away. Without a properly installed valley lining, water can penetrate beneath the tiles, leading to leaks, damp, and long-term structural issues.
Valley linings are especially important because they handle higher water flow than most other roof areas, they protect vulnerable joints where tiles are cut and meet and improve roof longevity and reduce maintenance issues. Using the correct valley lining ensures the roof remains watertight even during heavy rainfall and storm conditions.
Metrotile offers a selection of roof valley lining solutions designed to suit different roof profiles and applications, while maintaining durability and ease of installation.
All Metrotile valley linings are designed to integrate smoothly with our lightweight steel roofing systems, helping create a complete roof solution that performs reliably year after year.
