Too bright in your conservatory? What can you do to help?

Conservatory refurbished with a Metrotile Lightweight Roof System Shingle Antique Red

A conservatory is designed to be a light and relaxing space but the line between that and too bright is an easy line to cross. No one will find your conservatory relaxing if they struggle to keep their eyes open because of the sun, will they?

A conservatory that is too bright will also make it difficult for people to use their phones or tablets, which in this digitally orientated world is not going to make your conservatory popular, is it? Thankfully reducing the brightness of your conservatory is easier than you might think and there are many ways you can go about it.

Blinds

No conservatory should be without blinds, but they are much more than just a fashionable accessory they have a number of benefits. They can help keep your conservatory warm and are a great way to give yourself some added privacy while also keeping the brightness down.

Conservatory blinds come in all different types and can be set-up in a number of different ways, you could also opt for roofing blinds as well. These are more expensive but are very useful for conservatories with glass or Perspex roofs.

Tinted Windows

Tinted windows offer a number of great benefits they help you keep your conservatory dimmer and with professionally tinted windows you’ll rarely have trouble reading screens on a sunny day. But tinted windows are very expensive, but there is a cheaper alternative in the form of window films.

Windows films work just like tinted windows and they offer the same great benefits, they might not be as effective as actual tinted glass, but they still work well for creating a dimmer conservatory.

A Tiled Roof

This probably isn’t a surprise to many people but if you want to fix a problem in a conservatory then the best place to start is usually the roof. Installing a tiled roof can make a conservatory more habitable all year round and is great for reducing the brightness to a more balanced and comfortable level.

At Metrotile we can convert existing glass and PVC conservatory roofs into a solid tiled roof! This offers a host of benefit. So many conservatories look the same, don’t they? But with a tiled roof, you can really make your conservatory stand out.
