Five Stunning Metrotile Lightweight Steel Roofing Projects

Montage of Metrotile roofing projects

Metrotile Lightweight Steel Roofing established a presence in the UK roofing market at the turn of the new Millennium over twenty years ago, and continues to grow in popularity with specifiers and contractors to this day. A truly modern roof material that is suitable for most pitched – and very low-pitched – roofing projects, Metrotile has been installed on a wide range of stunning projects over the years, and here’s a closer look at five of them:

Housing Association Flats, Petersborough

Four HA-controlled blocks of flats in Peterborough needed replacement roofs due to water ingress and damp problems. The roofs were originally flat, however once it was realised that temporary repairs would cost too much in the long term, the decision was made to go from flat to pitched via 3000 square metres of Metrotile’s Roman profile.

“In my opinion Metrotile offer a competitive all in one solution backed up with passionate and knowledgeable staff.” Gary Gibbs, Mears

PGL Liddington, Swindon

Leading holiday leisure company PGL had a couple of roofing projects – two different timber framed blocks, one accommodation for guests, the other for staff. Sustainability was key to the projects, leading to a nomination for an LABC award. Metrotile’s low-weight, coupled with security and sustainability benefits lead to specification for the buildings.

“We would definitely recommend Metrotile roofing and hope to work with them again in the future.” Peter Thompson, PGL

Hawksley Bungalows, Doncaster

This smaller Local Authority project demonstrates just how much difference a refurbishment project can make. The aim was for a block of Hawksley Bungalows in Doncaster to have improved insulation, which lead to brick outer walls being built around the existing metal frames, and replacing the roof with Metrotile Roman with wonderful results.

Mrs Banks, resident at 4 Davis Road states; “When It rained, the old roof would make a terrible noise inside the house, but since the refurbishment rain doesn’t cause any noise at all”

Totally Modular Offsite Homes

In recent years, Modular Housing has risen as a viable solution to the UK’s housing crisis, offering sustainable, secure homes that can be factory-built and installed at site within days. Totally Modular specified Metrotile for a pilot scheme in Littlethorpe, and the relationship between Metrotile Lightweight Steel Roofing and Totally Modular has continued with great success.

“We decided to move to a Metrotile roof because of the rapid installation speed, the simplicity of the design and the reduced weight on the modular ring beam” Mark Ferriday, Totally Modular Homes

Priory Lincoln Academies

Metrotile’s largest installation in the UK is Priory Academies in Lincoln, a stunning multi-campus project that used 50,000 Metrotile profiles during its original installation, with Metrotile returning for expansions since. Metrotile Bond in Brindle compliments the buildings and the surrounding countryside beautifully.

“It’s such a great system, not only is it easy and swift to install, but it also leaves a great all round finish, with very impressive security benefits”. Graham Dodds, Dodds Roofing
