Modern Roofing Materials and the Natural Surroundings

Metrotile Lightweight Steel Roofing has become a tremendously successful product, but that doesn’t mean newcomers to The Future Proof Roof don’t have questions about using Metrotile for their project. One such example regards aesthetics:

How could a metal tile possibly look good alongside traditional roofing materials such as clay or slate? And how well can it blend in with the natural surroundings?

Each Metrotile profile is pressed to resemble so-called ‘traditional’ roof tile styles: Bond is a classic pantile shape, while Roman, Slate and Shingle are all designs based on their classic namesakes. These four designs have been staples of our product range for many years and as Metrotile is committed to improving our range, we are about to introduce more designs into the UK market ensuring that we can provide the correct shape for your product.

Of course, all of the pressing and shaping in the world can’t make a shiny steel panel look natural alone, which is why we add a stone coating and acrylic glaze finish and offer a wide variety of colours. The results is an attractive, organic look to your rooftop that looks amazing regardless of location, pressed from a truly modern material and found on an entire spectrum of projects from large school campuses to new and refurbished homes, to becoming the de-facto roof material choice for conservatory solid roof conversions.

Examples of where Metrotile’s ability to blend within the natural surroundings was paramount to specification includes accommodation at the leisure facilities at PGL Liddington and the use of Metrotile Shingle on the portable timber leisure buildings manufactured by The Log Pod ltd. The choices made in building materials at PGL Liddington put them up for an LABC award, while The Log Pod Ltd is so happy with Metrotile that they agreed to feature in the first of our Customer Story video series.
